Happy Fall Ya'll

So this past Sunday I decided to make a couple boxes that I hadn't tired yet, both SVG's that I purchased last week.  A Pumpkin from My Scrap Chick and an Acorn from SVG Cuts.  I loved them.  Both were pretty easy to make...the acorn was a bit harder, but after making one I think the next one will be much easier.

These would make a great little hostess gift!

Thanks for stopping by!

Fun Favors and Packaging

During the last couple weeks I have had some back problems and haven't blogged as much as I would have liked so I am playing catch up this week. So lets' get back to blogging....
My favorite things to create are favor boxes.  Some are very detailed while others are simple...sometimes, I believe "simple" is better.  Using a color as a theme can be just what you need to create the perfect favor. Last month, I was asked to design something for a well known company; as an event planner I don't like to reveal my client until I ask permission and this is just a proposal, so I will have to keep you guessing.  The theme is a "thank you" box and it is to be filled with some "cute edibles".  I made three different sizes and actually, kept it very, very simple.  The gift inside will be the most important, so I didn't want to take away from that.  The window and the tag needed to be the "key factor".  It was important to be able to "peak" in on the goodies. And the tag, well, it's a "play on words"...hopefully they will get it!!  hahaha.

Another idea I did think of but didn't create was a "pie box & a french fry box"...maybe I should add that to the mix.  Meeting isn't for a couple more weeks so maybe I will come up with a few more ideas. So remember sometimes, simple is better.  Wish me luck!

Starbucks Drink Bottles

Since, I am not a coffee drinker, I made my family drink a 4 pack of Starbucks Frappuccino Drinks just so I could have the cute little containers. I love the shape of the bottle, but the lid was not something I decided to use this time. I LOVE lemonade, but hate when the bees come around to "share" with me..so I added my own cute little lid.  I tried a few different things, cupcake liners tied with twine...
Ok, but not my favorite.
Upside-down nut cup with the edges cut with Martha Stewart Shred Scissor...cute, but...again not exactly what I was looking for.

Lastly, I cut the bottom of the nut cup with an edging tool and I LOVED IT! The little scallops add the perfect touch to these bottle lids!!!
Add a fun flower shape to the top  (bottom of nut cup) and a Pixie Straw through the center... PERFECTION!   How cute is that? Yes, I could have added a label, but I think there is enough going on  so just add your favorite drink, a couple ice cubes and maybe a small strawberry and you have a refreshing drink that will add color to any summer party.

If you wanted to use the lid that came with the drink, cover it with a sticker label printed with the drink flavor and then maybe a bucket of "nut cup lids and straws"...might be cute to even add a personalized flag to the straw with each persons name on it.  Refills?  Use a large Drink Dispenser so bottles can be easily refilled.
Family, you need to drink more STARBUCKS Drinks because I would like 12 of these bottles!!  Hee, Hee!!

Clear Packaging

I am always looking for cute, clear packaging.  I recently came across these 12 oz. cups with a dome lid and I just LOVE them!  So cute for favors...not just candy, but fun foods, trinkets and of course DRINKS, with a cute, colorful straws...and a straw huggers of course!
I also have a smaller clear container with a dome lid...perfect for a regular size cupcakes.  I can create matching cupcake wrappers using your same theme as well.  No hole at the top, but plenty of room for a personalized sticker, which I can create using the same theme and or colors.

Lets get back to the decorative, colorful, paper straws.  I have so many different colors and patterns.  Great for drinks, but I love to use them in so many different party pieces, and centerpieces.  It's fun to mix and match for a fun, festive party.

I just got these 1" x 8" Cello Bags, which I LOVE for candy filled party favors.  Of course, I like to add a "hugger" or a "topper" to stick with the theme.  Too cute for words...just take a look!!

That's all for now friends.  See you on Sunday, my regular blogging day. I hope to have a new piece completed that I KNOW Martha Stewart will just love, and I am going to do a Blog Share with you that is so STINKIN' cute!  Have a creative weekend!

Spring Break 2012

My daughter Katie is in a sorority and asked me to make a Spring Break Basket to be auctioned off at their Annual Fundraising Dinner & Silent Auction.  I was at a loss of what to make, but I came up with an adorable idea.  Of course, I wanted to design something around their mascot...cute little penguins.  I found a couple  SVG's that I had in my collection.

So here is what I decided on.  I found a beach bag at Target and filled it up with suntan lotion, beach towel, coconut lotion, sunscreen, ohhhh just a ton of fun spring-summer goodies I thought would be nice to use on a warm summer vacation that any girl would love.

These little guys couldn't be any cuter!!! They took on a personality of their own when I add them to the bag.  The bag went for $45 and I was glad to help raise a little cash!!

Candy Filled Method

Let's talk about Pretty Pokes tonight. I LOVE making Party Centerpieces! I usually add 7 Pretty Pokes to a themed base, creating an adorable centerpiece which can be seen from all sides, since each poke is double sided and very detailed.  They are a big hit!! I have orders for Baby Showers, Weddings, Birthdays...even Get Well Gifts!  I think they are replacing the flower arrangements!!

I thought I would share with you some ideas to use as a base for these Pretty Pokes. In the picture above, I made the base to match the pokes. But, you can do a DIY base as well.  Simple, but cute!  I love to use different containers, clear jars, drinking glasses, and clear or colored vases.   Even a party favor box will do.  Just add some bright, color coated candy like M & M's, Gumballs, or Jelly Beans.  Plant the straw right into the candy filled glass and it will stand perfectly in the container.   Since the Pretty Pokes are two sided they can be seen from everywhere in the room. After the party, just snip off the straw on the Poke, string a ribbon through each Poke and you have a cute bunting or a banner with a fun theme.  Very cute to hang in a baby nursery or even frame in a toddlers room!

I realize this votive cup is very small, but as you scroll through you will see that you really only need a small base to poke the straws into.  I love using Sixlet Candies in my jars.  They are sooo cute and colorful.  I think JoAnne Fabric carries them in assorted colors and because they're coated the straws just slide right between them, helping the Pokes stand perfectly without falling or slipping.  This votive will hold 3 double sided Pretty Pokes.

The conversation hearts are chalky and it's really hard to poke the straw into them.  But, oh they are SOOOOO cute!!  So here's what you do....

Add the little votive to the inside of a water glass or a wide mouthed glass.  This will help you design your centerpiece with the "cuteness" of the candy conversation hearts as well!  Another fun idea I have done using stemmed glass is to make a personalized round tag, similar to a wine glass tag to be placed at the bottom of the stem on the glass, this gives a fun personalized look.  Believe me, your friends will notice the details, so have fun with it!

I think I purchased this last container at Hobby Lobby.  It's really cute, holds a lot of candy but would be adorable if you made a decal to be placed on outside of container.

So that's it for containers tonight, but watch for more coming soon.
